Dixit

If you like your art more on the surrealism side of things, then do I have a game for you. In Dixit you must take a hand of cards that have nothing on them except a painting, and use them to bluff out your opponents.

Year of Release: 2008
Number of Players: 3-6
Playing Time: 30 min
Listed Age: 8+
Mechanics: Storytelling, Bluffing
Theme in a Nutshell: Art!

What I like:

The art is great, with lots of elements to work with.

As the storyteller you want to have a clue that good enough for people to pick your card, but not too good so that everyone picks your card. It’s a delicate balance.

Very easy to teach.

My Rating: 6/10

What I don’t like:

Not a great game when you’re looking for some crunch.

Some may struggle with the game if they don’t have the correct mindset for it.

Is it good for kids and families?

Dixit can be a fun one to play with the kid-people, as they can come up with outlandish stories. It also can be a challenge for parents to make sure their clues aren’t something that would go over the kid’s heads. That being said, misunderstandings are really entertaining in the game.
